Wish List: Prada Candy

I'll admit, I have a large collection of perfume (the joys of working in the beauty industry!)...My boyfriend likes to joke around and refer to me as a hoarder.... but really, can a girl ever have too many perfumes??
Let me answer my own question... NO she cannot!!

Pan to me at the beauty counter drenching myself in the new Prada Candy fragrance which has made it's way to the top of my never too early Christmas Wishlist.

It is like candy- sweet and sugary, but before you write it off let me tell you there is so much more to this scent then what appears in the name and advertisment! The scent is richer than other girly-sweet fragrances with notes of musk and caramel that keep it from being too cutesy. It's more soft and elegent instead of sweet and overbearing. If there was ever a fragrance to get me through fall and winter this'll be it! Plus, I like to pretend that's me on the bottle looking oh so fabulous!

Bad Hair Day? Instant Fix!

Sporting a braid today across the front of my hair line. It's not something I do very often but it's my go-to hair style for when I'm having a bad hair day.
If my hair is flat, or not falling right, or just not doing anything for me, to the braid I go! Wrapped around my hair line or a braided side pony. It never lets me down!

What is your go-to style for a bad hair day?

TIFF 2011 - Best Dressed

TIFF mania is about to come to an end and it's been another star packed year full of all the biggest names in Hollywood gracing our amazing city with their fashionable selves.
Here are my top picks for best dressed ladies at TIFF 2011.

Emily Blunt: I gasped when I saw this outfit and immediately fell in love. I just think it is adorable and she wears it very very well. The shoes go perfectly and the pink details are my favourite. A+ Emily. A+.

I love this nude dress on Keira Knightley along with the nude pumps. As always she looks very elegant and pretty. I love her girly romantic style.

I'm not even sure why I like this dress .. but I do ...alot. It's just... different, but in a good way. The design and texture is very pretty.

Ok, I know everyone went crazy over this dress worn my Olivia Wilde and I do like it ....but to be honesty I think I would like it more if it was worn by someone else... I haven't really warmed up to Olivia Wilde yet.... and I'm not even sure why.... I mostly only like the gold at the top and the white flowy-ness of the dress but I wish it had a bit less fabric so it wasn't as bulky and I could do without the Jasmin Disney Princess arms.

Kirsten Dunst has done a complete 180 here. For a while there I didn't really know WHAT was going on with her... but looking at her here makes me forget all about it. She looks beautiful!!! I want this outfit. The whole thing. Flowy blouses are my life right now and this one is after my heart.

Miss American Beauty

Okay, I hate to even mention the word Fall since (along with everyone else) I still can't figure out where this Summer went! I apologize for the lack of posting lately. I have been busy sucking out every last bit of what's left of this Summer and although I love Fall, I do not love what comes after it.... WINTER.... ew!

I'm not sure I have it in me for another Winter... the snow, the cold, the getting dark at 4:00, the fact that it seems to go ON and ON and ON and never end.... Okay well now that I have depressed everyone... Lets turn our attention to a positive part of the chilly weather - FALL BEAUTY!

Bring on the deep plums, the dark chocolate browns, the greys, the deep reds!!! I have already caught the Fall beauty bug (even though it isn't even Fall yet hehe). I've started sporting my plum lips and my dark nails and I am loving every minute of it!

Capturing my attention is my new favourite nail colour for Fall thus far!

"It's My Year" by OPI from The Miss America Collection

This dark purple nail colour with flecks of beautiful gold has captured my Fall loving heart. I am wearing it on my nails and my toes.

Sorry for the poor quality of these pictures (it was dark out, bear with me)

The whole collection is exactly what I want out of a Miss America Collection: Shiny, Glittery, Bright pops of colour! My nails are all ready for that famous Miss America wave... you know the one we all practiced when we were little... anyone? .... no? .... okay, just me.

Beauty Inspiration For Today.....

Candice Swanepoels Summer Dress
Worn at: VS Fantasies Body Care and Fragrance Launch

I'm crazy about Candice's summer dress. This would be the perfect dress for a romantic date on a beautiful summer evening.

The dress is Balenciaga.

Girly. Classic. Romantic.

Peachy Dreams

One of my favourite nail trends for this summer is PEACH! Dark peach, light peach, pinky peach, reddy peach. Whatever the peach may be I'm alllllll about it! Here are two of my favourites I've been wearing lately.

Essie in "Haute As Hello"

Sally Hansen in "Peachy Breeze"

Monday Night = Ladies Night

Thanks to The Bachelorette, Monday nights have turned into a weekly Girls Night.
Sure, The Bachelorette is cheesy and overdone and filled with alot of useless drama but sometimes it's fun to have a guilty pleasure to laugh at with your girlfriends.... and there's nothing I love more then shutting my brain off on a Monday night.
Last night was no exception and started with Mani/Pedi's at Nail Station. $40 for a mani/pedi in Toronto really can't be beat (which includes exfoliating and massage). The hardest part is narrowing down which nail polish to pick when your choosing between a copious selection of Essie, OPI, China Glaze and CND, which is no easy feat.
I decided on CND in "Tropic Coral" for my finger nails and Essie in "Smooth Sailing" for my toesies.
After nails it was time for Frozen Yogurt and then 2 hours of The Bachelorette.
This week was home town dates which is always full of fun awkwardness. My top pick was Constantine and his cute Greek family with the Italian restaurant. But, seems like Ashley doesn't have the best taste in men and is too busy being smitten with JP to really notice anyone else. What is with that girl and liking emotionally unstable guys? First Bently and now JP who, along with his family WOULDN'T stop talking about his ex girlfriend and how she hurt him. Doesn't seem like he's ready for an engagement.
Until next week Girls!

Beauty Inspiration For Today.....

Emma Stone's messy pony-tail
Worn at: The premiere of her new movie Crazy Stupid Love.
Big props for making pink and red actually look good together!
I'm excited for this one to come out. Looks really cute. Could you ever go wrong with a cast that features Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Emma stone and Julianne Moore? I think not.

One Day

Currently reading One Day, as it was recommended to me by a variety of different people over the last couple of months.
Turns out it's being turned into a movie starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess... pan to me in the movie theatre when the preview for the movie comes on and me, just having started the book, quickly screaming "NOOOO" as I cover my ears and close my eyes. Tragic! The book is great so far and I would recommend it as well. Curious to see how the movie holds up. This is a book you find yourself laughing out loud while reading, being interested to find out what happens next, and wanting to cry with the characters. A great summer read.

Hair Crush - At it again!

How pretty is Blake Lively? She really can do no wrong on the red carpet. Perfect Example: Here she is in a STUNNING Marchesa gown at the BAFTA Brits To Watch Gala.

Hair crush sported this beautiful low braided updo. She has been doing amazing things with braids lately.... and as I had predicted she was making her way back to blonde after going temporarily red.

A Black and White Affair

My big sister got married a few weekends ago. After a year and half of waiting and planning the day had finally come. It didn't really sink in, as these things normally don't, until the day of.
The day before the wedding it was calling for rain and severe thunder storms. I had mentally braced myself for a day of crappy weather.
Well, we didn't see one rain drop the entire day and just as they were saying their vows the sun came out. It was gorgeous the entire day!! We were so lucky!
The day couldn't have gone better starting with girl time at the salon getting hair and makeup done, then the excitement of the flowers arriving, the excitement of getting dressed, the photographers arriving and the pictures.
My neighbours lined the streets as we hopped into the limo. The limo ride there was fun with the flowers girls dancing the whole way there.

We arrive at Glen Abbey golf course for a beautiful rooftop ceremony - overlooking the gorgeous golf course - and all of a sudden the tears start to flow.
Wedding ceremonies are just so ....... romantic. The vows, the words said to eachother, the rings. It's all just so Beautiful!!
My sister decided on a black and white theme for the wedding and I love the idea.

I made it through my maid of honour speech, even through all the tears....
My sister looked so gorgeous. She couldn't have picked a more perfect dress. My sister and (now) husband surprised everyone with some ballroom dance moves from the classes they secretly took.

My little cousins Joshua and Abigail were the cutest little flower girl and ring bearer I've ever seen.

The bf wore his new Hugo Boss suit. No complaints here :)

Yes Please!

I NEEDS me this bathing suit featured on Matchbook's July Issue. The mint colour is to DIE for! Turns out it's from Anthropologie!! Yippee! Totally buy-able!

Seeing Double

Is it just me or are do these covers look awfully similar?
Only difference is I love Emma Stone and Lindsey Lohan.... well, not so much. I wish she would get her act together. She HAD so much potential once upon a time... Sad really. I hope Emma Stone stays outta LaLaLohan Land! Seems like she's got a good head on her shoulders so I'm confident we will see alot more of her for years to come!

Cover Girl

Inspired by the most recent cover of Flare Magazine I thought I would do a little feature of my top favourite magazine covers.

I admire all the hard work that goes into creating that perfect cover shot.... from nailing down the cover model, to the perfect styling, makeup, mood, all while trying to make a cover that's new and exciting from all the other covers out there...

Take a moment to admire the beauty and feel free to share which covers are YOUR favourite.

Mila Kunis - Flare August 2011

Talk about perfect styling. This Lanvin dress is to die for on her. Love her hair like this, side swept and natural makeup.

Rihanna - VOGUE April 2011

I love this Vogue cover with Rihanna looking like a high fashion version of The Little Mermaid

Rachel Bilson - GQ February 2008

I bought my boyfriend a subscription to GQ for Christmas this year... I'm glad I got it this year and not in 2008 when this cover was featured.... Have you ever seen a cover this cute/scandalous all at the same time?

Posh & Becks - W Magazine August 2007

I think we all remember this ridiculously hot and steamy cover of W Magazine with Posh & Becks. It was hot then, it's hot now, it'll be hot a thousand years from now.

Natalie Portman - Marie Claire Thailand February 2010

I love this picture of Natalie Portman. It's just so.... FUN! The dress is fun, the hair is fun, the smile is fun.... okay you get the point, enough talk about fun.

Ashley Olsen - Marie Claire September 2007

Another great Marie Claire cover. This one is sexy and sultry. I love the smokey eye makeup. I also love the plum colour of this dress. The pose is really cute.

Lady Gaga - Flare December 2009

Lady Gaga makes such a great cover model. This cover came out just as she was hitting her stride. I remember falling in love with it and her... along with the rest of the world. The eyes are one of my favourite parts of this cover along with the pink hair.

John Mayer - Details December 2009

I really like this cover of John Mayer. Sometimes he looks good.... and other times not so much. I saw him last summer in concert and it was one of the not so good times... but here he is in 2009 looking clean cut and shaven.... and altho I'm not a huge fan of tattoos (for myself) I love the way the colours in his arm sleeve pop on this cover.

Jennifer Aniston - Vogue December 2008

Love her or hate her, there is no denying that Jennifer Aniston is gorgeous and has aged very well. I'm not sure how much work she's had done to still look this great but whatever she's done she's done it right. She has avoided looking too "pulled" and "plastic". I love this cover for the romantic red dress and her long hair. I definitely prefer this to her recent short bob hair cut. Also, perfect cleavage.... jealousy.

Robert Pattinson - GQ April 2009

I like this cover for three reasons - The hair, the grey suit, the perfect amount of scruff. I really don't think a guy could go wrong with hair and scruff like this and wearing a suit this colour. Also, grey suit, white shirt, black tie is one of my favourite combos as far as suits go.

Gisele - Vanity Fair May 2009

I don't really think an explanation is required as to what makes this cover great....

Liisa Winkler - FASHION Winter 2009

I was interning at FASHION Magazine when this issue came out. I remember we got to vote on which cover we thought should be picked for this issue and I voted for this one. It's the baby blue skirt that really gets me in this one.

Oprah and Ellen - O Magazine December 2009

I think most of us can remember when Ellen petitioned on her show for months to be on the cover of O magazine. She's a clever one, that Ellen. I just love this cover and love that even though they were competitors they never acted like it.

Nina Dobrev - Flare February 2011

The flowers are my favourite part of this cover. Apparently over $1000 worth in peonies were used to capture the look. Simply Divine!

Elisha Cuthbert - Flare July 2011

Another fabulous Flare cover. This one is all about the colours, plus it's just HOT! The blonde hair and blue eyes, the vibrant lip - Joe Fresh Beauty Matte lipstick in Fuchsia, and the tight light gold top. It all just works.

Lady Gaga - Details August 2009
As I was saying earlier, Lady Gaga makes a great cover model and this cover proves it again. Who else could make purple hair tied in a bow look this good? umm NOONE!

Emily Blunt, Amy Adams, Jessica Biel, Anne Hathaway - Vanity Fair March 2008

I love when Vanity Fair does group covers for their annual Hollywood Issue featuring Annie Leibovitz gatefold covers.... you really can't go wrong. There's just something very "Girl Power" about this one with that classic old time Hollywood glamour feel.

Kate Hudson - Elle November 2010

This will forever be one of my favourite magazine covers of all time.
